A couple of things everyone says to be sure & bring.
Power strip- because there's only one plug in your room and with 4 ladies that ain't enough! haha Alarm clock- there isn't one in the room and if you're interior there's no window so you could probably sleep all day and not even know it. I plan on waking up at a decent hour most days and just heading to the lido to sleep it off. I wanna take in all the sun and water I can! |

Ooooh yes! the power strip is right!! I remember! This is SO true... especially for the "Mocas". I gotta plug my flat iron in, my curling iron in, my
cell phone charger, my ipod... I can keep going if you like :)

My MIL told me that a doctor told her that if you drink Pepto with each meal that you have a very low chance of contracting Norovirus because the Pepto coats
your innards. She took his advice on a cruise and everyone but her got sick!
I'll drink with you, Brenda. |

I bought a bottle of motion sickness meds last year since I'd never cruised and didn't need them. If anyone thinks they might need them, I will pack
them again for you!
I can't think of anything that I really needed last year that I didn't take. Of course, I packed everything but the kitchen sink. Alarm clocks are good- battery chargers for your camera batteries (and cell phone and mp3 players, too) are a good idea. I took a power strip last year, but didn't need it. We were low maintenance. Pack SPF and sunglasses! Carnival has beach towels for you to use, but you can pack your own if you'd like. If I can think of anything else, I'll let y'all know! |

Don't forget to coordinate with roomies and you can just bring one hairdryer, flat iron, power strip, etc. Anything you can "share."
Just an FYI my aunt & uncle just got back from a cruise last week and my aunt got sick on the 3rd day. She went to the doctor onboard (it has a technical term, but I forget it) and they quarantined her to her room for the rest of the cruise! I think I'm going to start taking Airborne before we leave. I don't want to get sick! :o( and it's so much more common nowadays on cruises. Also on the cruise my parents went on last year over half the boat was ill with seasickness on the second day. The waves beneath the ocean were churning, even though you couldn't see them on the surface. My mom said hardly anyone was out on the boat and there was a huge line to the doctor. It was making people so sick they were vomiting and had a fever! Of the 10 people in my parents party, only 3 of them didn't get sick that day. But once the waters settled everyone was fine. This was all on the Atlantic though, so maybe nothing like that will happen to us! |

I have an iron stomach, but the sight of vomiting can set me off. I had "seasickness" the first three months of pregnancy. The advice is the same
for morning sickness: Keep eating. It was hard to think about eating when your stomach is upset, but you will be less seasick. Now, I can't speak for
major ship rolling; I would probably succomb to it.
Ok, I was just distracted by John's tweet about the Titanic Fail pic. Check it out and read the comments all the way down, but beware of doing it at work. Innuendo indeed...
I didn't realize until your question got me thinking, but I would bet this is actually a screencap from the classic movie Asstanic. He's actually the title character, and Jack and Rose behind him are just fluff to distract the audience while he cranks up his outboard. Sorry, you were saying? |

Last year, Sixthman sent us a Mayercraft Survival Kit (goodie box) but since it doesn't look like we're getting one this year...
pack your Blackberry lanyards! And if you can find a plastic sleeve (something like you'd keep your work ID in), then bring that, if not, someone should pack a one-hole punch so you can clip the lanyard through for your Sign and Sail card which is also your room key. If it's hanging around your neck, it's muuuuch easier to keep up with. |

Here's one thing you might wanna bring, a Nalgene bottle or some kind of water bottle. I just picked one up at Wal-Mart yesterday. The cruise doesn't
have "to-go" cups, so if you want to take something to drink with you this will come in handy. Also handy for mixing your own drink in your room! :o)

Some things I thought of today:
-Tylenol (or your choice of pain meds) -air freshener- you are going to be in a tiny room with either no window or a window that doesn't open with 1-3 other people. I guarantee you, at some point, there is going to be someone stinkyin'. |

I brought Bonine last year for motion sickness and took it just in case and I didn't get seasick. I think that we had a pretty smooth cruise though so I
'm not sure if I would have gotten sick if I didn't take it. Another must have for me is earplugs so I can sleep. It can get pretty noisy with all the
wasted people coming back to their cabins and I need quiet to sleep.

Urka21 wrote:Oh cripe, leave it to Walmart to unload Nalgene. They stopped making them because of the BPA (ya know, like the baby bottle issue?) in them. Take it back and get a metal one - Sigg is the most popular. BPA is BAD, BAD, BAD! Canada has banned it and the US is dragging its feet - it's the newest version of the tobacco coverup. |

True, Marty - I've been meaning to buy each of us in my family a Sigg bottle. I believe it is www.siggusa.com, or you can look and see if anyone retails it
in your area! They are aluminum, and antibacterial. Wahoo!

Twice as much ain't twice as good, and can't sustain like one-half could. |

The Nalgene one has a big sticker on it that says "BPA FREE." And I actually got it at Target, cause Wal-Mart doesn't carry the good water
bottles. I got a crappy one from there. Yeah, I got 2 water bottles. One for alcohol and one for H2O. Gotta keep a healthy balance. ;o)

Lots of great ideas/tips ladies!
If you get car or airsick, you'll probably get seasick. It is NOT fun at all because you can't make the boat stop, and even if you try to lay down, it doesn't help, so if you don't know how you'll do, just bring something. Bonine, Dramamine and the wristband things didn't work for me on one cruise and that just sucked. I'm bringing a prescription patch this time. They sell meds on the boat but it's expensive, but it sounds like everyone will be stocked up. I haven't heard about the Pepto thing. I may try that. I also got food poisoning or the norovirus thing on a different cruise. Sick all night and part of the next day. At least it was fast and at least I wasn't dealing w/seasickness either. Or a hangover. A trifecta could be deadly!!! So, yes, hand sanitizers, motion sickness drugs, tums, headache/hangover helpers...
